Newport

An adaptive reuse project in a former Chicago Transit Authority electrical substation, this project took a great deal of creative problem solving.  The 9 apartments retained as much of the original structural detailing as possible. We created a clerestory in the hallway and vaulted the ceilings to expose the full height of the structural trusses. We wanted the selections to feel as if they had always been in the building so we sourced materials with the same or similar finishes as existing building materials. We love that the end result feels fresh, but storied.
